Science Applications International Corporation has been awarded a task order by the U.S. Army Program Executive Office - Enterprise Information Systems (PEO-EIS) to provide engineering support to help maintain and enhance the Biometrics Automated Toolset - Army (BAT-A) system.
The task order has a one-year base period of performance, three one-year options and a total contract value of more than $37 million if all options are exercised. Work will be performed primarily in Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Kingstowne, Va. The task order was awarded under the Information Technology Enterprise Solutions — 2 Services (ITES-2S) contract.
BAT-A devices collect fingerprints, iris scans, facial photos and biographical information of persons of interest and store information in a searchable data base, facilitating the use of biometrics for intelligence exploitation. The system provides Government forces with the ability to identify, track and exploit individuals encountered in the Global War on Terror. Through this task order, the SAIC-led team will help ensure continued, reliable technical support to BAT-A systems, peripherals and networks.
