Gunnebo security group has signed an order to supply high-security ImmSec immigration gates at Bahrain International Airport.
The initial order – won in cooperation with Securicore, Gunnebo’s local partner in Bahrain, is for four ImmSec trial-lanes, into which smart ID cards, a fingerprint reader and two LCD monitors will be integrated. Gunnebo’s system for single-person and left-items detection, TDAR, will also be integrated.
Installation of the first four gates will begin in September 2008 and the order could be expanded to include the whole airport.
According to Gunnebo, Bahrain’s government has introduced smart card identification to facilitate daily activities and integrate all citizen services via one platform.
ImmSec identifies single and multiple configurations of people and can also detect luggage, infants and children. The integrated overhead detection system verifies single-person occupancy and persons fraudulently attempting to beat immigration security protocols.
Gunnebo has already installed immigration systems in both the UK and Japan.
