Key fob payments go live in Gran Canaria

Key fob payments go live in Gran Canaria

MasterCard’s contactless MINI Card key fob has made its European debut with customers of Spanish institutions La Caja Insular de Ahorros de Canarias and EURO 6000.
This latest pilot – the first of its kind in Europe – kicked off in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria earlier this month and is being deployed in two phases. In the first phase 400 customers and 15 merchants, mostly restaurants and pharmacies, in the Triana business area of Las Palmas will participate. The second phase will include more than 5,000 cardholders in Triana.
“Following the launch last year of Europe´s first watch equipped with MasterCard PayPass, the Mini Card is another great example of how MasterCard is leading the development of new contactless payment devices beyond traditional payment cards,” says Cathleen Conforti, senior vice president, Global PayPass Product Manager at MasterCard Worldwide. By bringing together PayPass technology with innovative form factors, we´re offering consumers more attractive new ways to pay for everyday items."
