Suprema, Inc., a global provider of fingerprint recognition technology and systems, announced that the company´s fingerprint matching and extracting algorithms ranked top in the Minutiae Interoperability Exchange (MINEX) test by the NIST (National Institute of Standards & Technology).

The NIST test results, released on November 3, 2008, revealed that Suprema´s ´matcher´ algorithm showed a 0.23% false rate, outperforming all 21 ´matcher´ algorithms from 17 vendors. Also, the company´s ´extractor´ algorithm recorded a 0.30% false rate, topping all 23 algorithms from 20 vendors.

The MINEX test evaluates the performance and interoperability of fingerprint algorithms to the core ANSI/INCITS 378 fingerprint standard format. The MINEX certification is required by the US government´s Personal Identity Verification (PIV) program for the identification and authentication of Federal employees and contractors. This certification will provide Suprema and its partners an advantage to tender for biometric procurements related to the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 201) and the Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD 12).
