OpSec Security, a provider of anti-counterfeiting and brand protection management solutions, has been selected to provide online brand protection for Peter Thomas Roth and June Jacobs, two internationally-recognized beauty and skin care brands.
According to Rochelle Jacobs-Silpe, COO, Peter Thomas Roth Clinical Skin Care & June Jacobs Spa Collection: “Our efforts to eliminate unauthorized sale of our products on the internet stem from our commitment to our customers. We have currently deployed OpSec Security’s online brand protection system to automate our internet monitoring activities, and to identify, track, and take action against unauthorized distributors at their source.”
The sale of illicit cleansers, creams, moisturizers, scrubs, and other skin care products offered by online auctions and retail websites is a growing problem. Unauthorized resellers may offer counterfeit, expired, degraded, or repackaged products.
Meanwhile, OpSec Security Group announced its interim results for the six months ended 30 September 2007.
Revenue at the company rose from £14.4 million in the same year-earlier period to £16.3 million, a rise of 13%. Profit before tax fell from £2.76 million in the 2006 six month period to £859,000 in the same six month period in 2007. Profit after tax, however, jumped to £4.126 million from £2.21 million thanks to £3.284 million in deferred tax asset in the group’s UK-based companies which are in a position to utilize past trading losses against future trading profits.
From a segment perspective the company’s banknote and high security documents division made a revenue of £4.913 million in the six months ended 30 September 2007, compared with £7.153 million in its brand protection division and £3.859 million in ID Technologies.
