SCM Microsystems has launched CHIPDRIVE MyKey, a secure USB device designed to make it safer and easier for people to access the Internet and information networks.

CHIPDRIVE MyKey is based on smart card technology and is a personal device that stores passwords, credit card numbers and other sensitive information. It works with an application to aid username/password logins and online forms. Users insert it into a USB slot on a PC or notebook and enter a PIN to automatically answer login password requests, access personal data and fill in online forms.

The technology has already received a 2008 Innovation Award for IT Security from the Germany-based initiative for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs), an organisation that provides IT consulting and market trend analysis.
